Entryism: Here Comes Mamdani as the Tail Wags the Dog

An earthquake sent tremors through the national Democrat Party on last week’s primary day, June 24 .The New York City Democrat primary election for the Mayoral nomination resulted in an off the Richter scale earthquake with the surprise victory of Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani. Mamdani, a 33 year old obscure state legislator with no record to speak of, defeated the favorite, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. While Cuomo had name recognition, previous state and federal service, endorsements by important labor unions and former Mayor Michael Bloomberg and former President Bill Clinton, his resignation as governor after facing multiple charges of sexual harassment could not be overcome. Mamdani overcame Cuomo’s lead in various polls to win the Democrat Party nomination for Mayor of the Big Apple. He promised free bus rides, free child care for all, city owned supermarkets, freezing of rents in stabilized apartments, thirty dollar an hour minimum wage and increased taxes on the wealthier and “whiter” sections of NYC as well as higher personal and corporate income taxes. It should be noted that all of these proposals are not within the power of the Mayor to effect unilaterally and may require city council or state approval, which may or may not occur. Nevertheless, the Democrat electorate looked favorably on his proposals and he carried the day. Yet, Mamdani is not without controversy, particularly in his calling to “globalize the intifada” and various statements which alienate large segments of the electorate, particularly Jewish voters. In the November general election, he will face incumbent Mayor Eric Adams, running as an independent, Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa, of the Guardian Angels, a habitual loser in previous elections and possibly Andrew Cuomo running as an independent. With New York CIty’s six to one Democrat registration, Mamdani today appears to be the favorite for victory in November.
Just what is a Democratic Socialist? The Democratic Socialists USA (DSA) describe themselves as a “movement”, not a political parry, that believes that working people should run both the economy and society. It certainly promotes class warfare in its efforts to achieve power. It is of interest that the DSA seeks to exercise discipline and control over its members who are elected to public office. Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) after his election to the House of Representatives, voted in favor of aid to Israeli development of its Iron Dome defense system and visited Israel compliments of J Street, a self described pro Israel organization. DSA members called for disciplinary action against Bowman but its national political committee finally voted not to expel him as he voted the DSA line in other House votes. Rep. Bowman lost the Democrat primary in 2024 and is no longer in the Congress. Senator Bernie Sanders, Rep Alexandria Ocasio Cortez and other “squad “ members still sit in the Congress and identify as DSA members. NYC DSA chapter has required its endorsed candidates to sign a pledge not to visit Israel. This behavior of the DSA towards its endorsed candidates is neither widely known nor publicized. One may conclude that DSA membership and support is more important to its candidates than fulfilling their role as elected public officials whose job is to represent their constituents rather than a “movement” promoting class warfare and social disunity. It might be good to remember that the National Socialist German Workers Party (NSDAP-the Nazis) also described itself as a movement (Bewegung), not a political party. Where a movement ends, where the party begins, what their true motivation may be and to whom they are ultimately responsible are questions that the public has a right to ask and must be answered.
Another group infiltrating the Democrat Party is the Working Families Party. Originating in New York State where there are minor parties on the ballot for generations which seek to influence the two major parties, Democrat and Republican. In the 1930s the American Labor Party was organized to give another line to Democrat candidates. This party was infiltrated and taken over by the Communist Party and no longer served or endorsed Democrats. Anti-Communist labor and liberal leaders organized the Liberal Party which was influential for many years in NY State until it committed suicide due to corruption among its leaders. The American Labor Party withered away and disappeared in the 1950s as it became clear to all that it was a Communist Party front. To counter the Liberal Party’s giving the Democrat Party an extra electoral line, the Conservative party was formed in NY in an effort to push the GOP further to the right The Conservative Party reached the apogee of its support in 1970 when its own candidate, James Buckley, defeated incumbent GOP Senator Charles Goodell whom the Conservatives considered too liberal. The Conservatives still have a line on the NY ballot and have succeeded in their “mission” to push the Republican Party to the right. The Working Families Party is active in many states at this time and appears to be influencing the Democrats to move further to the left. It is audaciously infiltrating the Democrat Party and has even published, prior to the recent June 24 NY primary elections, a “NYWFP Voting Guide for the 2025 Primary Election” . This guide, dated June 6, 2025 advised voters which candidates it endorsed in the Democrat primary election. To have a political party openly infiltrate the primary election and candidate selection process of another party is reminiscent of the Trotskyite effort to infiltrate and seize control of the French Socialist Party in the 1930s. If Zorhan Mamdani is elected Mayor of New York City, he can go around screaming “globalize the intifada” and promote other insane schemes which he does not have the power to effect. Free buses are not possible as the buses are under the control of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) controlled by the governor; Already it is estimated that 44% of bus riders enter the bus and simply refuse to pay fare. So who knows what a NYC under Mamdani will end up as. More importantly, today, the Democrat Party needs to do a serious self evaluation and decide where it is going. Will it end up an appendage of the DSA and Working Peoples Party? Will it survive to be a part of America’s future as it is part of America’s past, or will it end up a stalking horse for class warfare and who know what? The leadership of the Democrat Party had better get to work. Its, and America’s, future is at stake.
