Joke of the Day: A Statement by Sergei Lavrov

Of course, the following quote from Russian gangster and Putin accomplice Sergei Lavrov, who is styled as the Foreign Minister of Imperial Russia, is not a joke. On the contrary, it is tragic as we see what passes for so called civilized discourse by a high government official of a country that is a permanent member of the United Nations (UN) (In)Security Council. This quote demonstrates to what level the world of international diplomacy has sunk. (Aug. 23, 2022)

“We demand that Israel respect the resolutions of the UN Security Council and above all, the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria”.

In a previous post, I advised President Joe Biden not to attend an upcoming G20 Summit scheduled for November 2022 in Bali, Indonesia. Lavrov and Putin are busy killing Ukrainian civilians in massacres reminiscent of the behavior of the USSR. Both Lavrov and Putin were functionaries of that extinct despotic nation, but they are busy trying to resuscitate something the world can do quite well without. Xi Jinping, the President of China, is of the same background as they are and is supporting them wholeheartedly. The hypocrisy of these gangsters in calling for observance of UN resolutions makes one wonder if we are dealing with mentally stable or psychotics on the order of Hitler and Stalin. They need to be warned that Room 600 at the Palace of Justice in Nuremberg remains available for war crimes trials.

More importantly, the leaders of the United States and the European Union (EU) need to make it clear that there will be no more appeasement- No more Munichs. No sitzkrieg, no drôle de guerre, no phony war. No repetitions of November 1918 when Germans didn’t believe that they lost World War I, thus setting the stage for the rise of Adolf Hitler and World War II. Secretaries Austin and Blinken have expressed the wish that Russia loses the war on Ukraine. Regrettably, President Biden disagreed with them. Russian imperialism cannot be permitted to conquer other nations. The Helsinki Final Act and Budapest Memorandum remain in force. The Brezhnev Doctrine is dead. Make it clear to the ruling clique in the Kremlin that their economic warfare will not succeed. If they don’t sell oil and gas to the EU this winter, they should never ever again have a market in the EU. This stand requires courage on the part of the EU. Do they have it? Margaret Thatcher famously declared “we can do business with Mr. Gorbachev”. Can the same be said about Putin and the ruling circles in Russia? The world must stand up to International gangsterism. The UN is finished. It has proven itself to be worthless. Do the U.S., the EU and NATO understand that the clock is ticking? Action is required now. Russian territory must not be treated as Britain and France treated Nazi Germany during the fall and winter of 1939-40. The war must be brought to Russia and the Russian people. They alone can end the gangster regime. Neither nation building nor regime change is our responsibility. That is the responsibility of the Russian people. Sufficient pressure must be brought to bear for them to step up and make their country a better place. They are responsible for ending the despotism under which they live and ending the senseless slaughter in Ukraine.
