The Democratic Party (and the Voters) Must Urgently Respond

Primary season isn't over but the Democratic Party is facing a major crisis. It is being infiltrated and subverted by a group seeking to dominate it and transform it into an entity it is not. Their refusal to recognize what they are facing will not make their problem go away. In fact, the worst is yet to come, unless they wake up and take urgent corrective action. At least twenty-one more state primaries are upcoming. This week's leading state primary is Colorado- June 30- and particularly its first district. There, multi-term Dem incumbent Diana DeGette is being challenged by Democratic Socialist (DSA) Melat Kiros. Reports indicate Kiros is in striking distance to defeat De Gette. Who is Kiros? A graduate of the University of Notre Dame Law School and currently a Ph.D. student, this headline from The Colorado Sun says it all. "Progressive leaders criticize Melat Kiros for declining to call deadly Boulder firebombing antisemitic". A Jewish rallly was attacked by a fire bomber who yelled "Free Palestine". One person was killed, the bomber was convicted and is serving a life sentence and all candidate Kiros can say is that she doesn't know what was in the bomber's heart; She refuses to call the bombing an anti-semitic act. Well, we don't know what is is anybody's heart but it doesn't take a genius to know what is in Kiros' head. She and her DSA movement are racists and haters of the worst sort as they actively promote anti-Semitism couched in academic slogans and rubbish to fool the public. The DSA classifies itself as a movement, not a party. The National Socialist German.Workers Party (Nazis for those who don't recognize its full title) also styled itself as a movement (bewegung). The reader can decide whether the DSA and Nazis are similar in goals and objectives. Closely associated with them is the so caled Working Families Party, the above ground arm of the movement seeking to Bolshevize America by promoting class struggle between friends and neighbors.
How much attenton this race in Colorado will arouse remains to be seen. The DSA victory last week in New York's primaries did attract national attention. America awaits the entry into the House of Representatives of Brad Lander, Claire Valdez and Darializa Avila Chevalier. Less publicized is the victory of DSA member Aber Kawas who won a NYS senate primary. She believes America deserved the horrendous atrocity of Sep 11, 2001. Is she satisfied with the thousands killed that day or does she wish for a repeat of that day and more deaths? If these are the candidates of the Democratic Party, what are the voters to think?
The Democratic Party was founded almost two hundred years ago by, among others, Martin Van Buren and Andrew Jackson. They, and many others from that party have served as presidents along with many other fine people who were elected and served in other positions at all levels of government. One can only wonder what they would thnk of these candidates. James Carville, a leading Democratic Party strategist, has stated that these DSA candidats are not democrats and the party must distance itself from them. So what must be done?
All of the districts won by th DSA candidates are overwhelmingly blue. Generally, victory in the primary is tantamount to victory in the general election. But it doesn't have to be so. The Republican Party must recognize that its candidates in these districts have little possibility of victory. For registered democrats and indeed for all voters, these are the times that try men's souls. Nothing adverse will happen to them if they don't pull the lever for the Democratic candidates on election day. The Democratic Party county organiztions must find a write-in candidate for election day or alternatively, collect signatures for another line on the election ballot. It might be useful to run Rep. Dan Goldman against Brad Lander and Rep. Adriano Espaillat against Claire Valdez in the general eleton. With Republican backing plus the Democratic party organization, entryism by the extreme left DSA and Working Families Party can be stopped and democracy can be preserved. Democracy is truly at stake. Make no mistake about it.
Benjamin Franklin said our form of government is "a republic, if you can keep it". We neither want nor need a republic of a "new type", that is, a people's republic of the socialst style. The voters and the Democratic Party must urgently get their act together and put an end to the nefarious groups that seek to subvert, and yes, end our democracy and way of life. The Republicans must coalesce with the Democrats to save the republic. The stakes couldn't be higher. A miniscule percentage of voters participate in primaries. Don't let candidates sit in the Congress who won 5% of the vote. They represent no one but the forces that seek to destroy America. They must be defeated on Election Day.
